STEAMTECH 2008 : CONCEPT
The event intends to disseminate knowledge about the latest trends and technology upgrades in the Boilers, Evaporators, Coolers, Heat Recovery System and Steam Distribution Systems. The seminar will also facilitate deliberations on implementation of various cost and energy efficiency measures in the industry.
Our magazine has continuously brought up-to-date information on various aspects of Boiler & Steam industry - Regulatory aspects, equipment manufacture, generation process, maintenance scheduling, distribution networking and all allied process, with a objective to create better awareness of the need to see the Utility department to be as important as any other department in the process industry.
Steam is one of the most common and widely used mediums for introducing energy in industrial and commercial fields. Relatively low generation cost, high specific heat, ease of control and transportation and most importantly high efficiency operation, are advantages a steam system has in the extensive use in power generation, process heating and cooling, mechanical drive and component separation applications. Steam is also an important source of water for many process reactions. All these characteristics make steam the most preferred choice of application in all types of processing industries.
Rising fuel costs, stringent pollution control regulations and increased awareness have generated immense interest in making the steam system cost and energy efficient. Technological advancements in steam generation equipment have taken rapid strides in the past 50 years. Boiler performance, combustion optimization and efficiency in steam distribution have become leading areas of overall reduction in input costs of products in processing industries. Energy audits and institutional research studies have proved a potential of 30 - 40% savings in steam systems.
Hence, the Indian industry needs to keep itself updated with the latest trends in the field. Ongoing up gradation, timely introduction of new technologies, and continuing education of manpower with a ever positive mind set can surely result in fulfilling the desired objective of lower operating cost, improved profits, better competitiveness and cleaner production approach.
