background

The Indian boiler industry is estimated to be about Rs 35,000 crore by 2020. The National Electricity Plan alongwith the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-2017) will add a huge generation capacity in the coming years and a significant part of this capacity is expected to come from thermal power plants, resulting in huge demand and growth for the Indian boiler industry.

During the last several years, the boiler technology has undergone significant changes affecting the design, efficiency and factor of safety. Today the equipment availability is no longer the criteria of selection of boiler . Fuel availability, efficiency, ease of maintenance and the environmental concerns are some of the important factors to be considered.

STEAM finds applications not only in wide spectrum of process industries but also hotels, hospitals, transportation etc. Steam provides process heating, pressure control, mechanical drive and component separation, and is a source of water for many process reactions.

In view of the growth prospects of Indian boiler industry, it is pertinent to bring the boiler fraternity to a common platform for sharing and exchanging knowledge and experience amongst the professionals.
